Let the fence builders build fences…
We all like to think we are able to accomplish anything. That’s good, to a point. Lacking self-confidence is not an attribute of most successful business owners. There is a fine line, however, between self-confidence and hubris.
Accomplishing a task and accomplishing a task well are two entirely different things. Take our new website, www.tarlovconsultinggroup.com for example. My Mac came with all the software I needed to design a website. On the tutorial, it looks easy. My web host also bundles website software into the hosting package. I gave it a try, with less than acceptable results.
Enter Kim from Canopy Marketing. After an initial conversation about what I was looking for, I was presented with a rough outline, a website and sales brochure. From there, templates, colors and photos were presented to me and Kerry and I chose what we liked best – with some input from trusted friends. With that done, Kim asked for some content for each page, which we provided in very rough form. Kim polished it, formatted it, and after some more tweaks and fine tuning, presto! – we had a website.
Could I have done a site and brochure myself? Of course. It probably would have taken me twice as long, and my family may not have been speaking to me when it was over, but I could have done it myself. Could I have done it better? Not a chance.
True it cost money to have Canopy Marketing design these things, but had I done it myself it would have taken much longer, and been of much lesser quality. Not to mention all the other things I was able to accomplish while Canopy Marketing was creating our site. I used my time to do the things I do best while allowing Kim to focus on what she does best. It allowed me to build fences. I saved time and have a better end result.
What holds true with marketing also holds true with bookkeeping. Can you do it yourself? Of course. Can you accomplish it faster? Probably not. Can you accomplish it more accurately? Only you can answer that.
If keeping the books is keeping you from building your fences, give us a call. We can tailor a program for your specific situation. And we can do so for a price so affordable it may surprise you. All this so you can have piece of mind, and get back to building your fences…
Amen Jason… I’ve juggled many balls in the air hoping to at least catch a few and keep the rest flying around my head. It’s frustrating at best and in the end does not save a dime. A “small company” does not have to act small, with so many people like you and Kim with gifts and talent and knowledge you can build a “BIG” company through great partnerships.
And… as you say get back to the business of building fences.
